Shopify Editions Spring '26: The Complete Roundup
Shopify officially bills this semiannual roundup of updates as "150+," but counting from the English-language page as of June 18, 2026, it comes to 10 categories and 218 items—a substantial volume. Looking across the whole release, what seems to emerge is a major shift in which commerce expands from "inside Shopify" out to everywhere—into conversations with AI, onto external sites, and into physical stores. The "Everywhere" in the title may well be capturing exactly that direction.
The commerce infrastructure is opened up to AI agents
This may be the single biggest point this time. Shopify Catalog automatically standardizes and enriches product data, and through the Catalog API / UCP (Universal Commerce Protocol) it is opened up to external AI agents. Products are discovered and recommended within the conversations of "AI channels" such as ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, and Perplexity, and with "checkout in more places," the purchase is completed all the way through Shop Pay without leaving that chat. According to Shopify, data structured via Shopify doubles the conversion rate inside AI chat.
A new "Agentic plan" has also been added. Even stores that have not fully adopted Shopify can sell on AI channels and in the Shop app simply by syncing their products to the Catalog.
Sidekick and external AI now "operate" your store
Sidekick is evolving from "an AI that answers questions" into "an AI that does the work." It can now carry out actions inside apps such as Klaviyo, Judge.me, Loop, and Smile through conversation, and even if you close the window, heavy processing continues in the background. On top of that, external AI such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Perplexity can now add products and manage orders via chat, making it realistic to run operations without being glued to the admin. On the customer-facing side, an "AI sales associate (Shopify Inbox)" handles always-on service and product recommendations in 19 languages.
Shop Pay extends beyond Shopify
"Shop Pay on any platform." Shop Pay, which until now was confined to Shopify stores, can now be offered on external platforms as well. You can add Shop Pay to your existing commerce platform without migrating to Shopify. Customers can "complete a purchase in one tap" using their saved information—even on stores that aren't on Shopify.
B2B, POS, and operational features reach further
B2B features on more plans are opened up at no extra cost, giving you company profiles, volume-based pricing, and up to three B2B catalogs. On the store side, the "fastest POS ever (V11)" shortens checkout operations, helping reduce wait times at the register and the load on staff. In marketing, "Campaign Autopilot" appears to have AI continuously learn and optimize your ad operations. There seem to be practical, day-to-day enhancements packed in across a wide range.
Development is redesigned around AI agents
With the "Shopify AI Toolkit," you can now manage and develop your store from Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and VS Code. For the storefront, an "all-new Hydrogen" has been rebuilt agent-first and runs on any framework or runtime. And when you make theme changes, "A/B testing for the online store and checkout (Rollouts)" lets you decide based on experiment results rather than gut feeling.
